About Naomi

A highly experienced clinical psychologist, Naomi has specialised for over 20 years in child and adolescent mental health.

She has a doctorate in clinical psychology from University College London and a first-class degree in psychology from the University of Bristol.  She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered with the British Psychological Society.

As well as her work with Illuminate, Naomi has been a senior clinician within a large NHS child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in London.  She is also part of an NHS paediatric team assessing children for autism.

Across her NHS and private work, she assesses and supports children with neurodevelopmental conditions, such as autism  and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).  She also sees children with a range of mental health difficulties, such as low mood, anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

She is an expert in diagnosing neurodevelopmental conditions (such as autism and ADHD) using ‘gold standard’ diagnostic tools, and in providing post-diagnostic support to both children and their families.  She has additional expertise and experience in administering and interpreting cognitive assessments to help identify a child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

As a parent herself, Naomi has a particular professional interest in evidence-based parenting skills.  She has organised and facilitated many parenting groups for parents of children with behaviour difficulties, ADHD and autism.  She also sees families individually to support them with issues such as sleep, fussy eating and difficult behaviour.  Naomi has undertaken specialist training in leading Incredible Years and Triple P parenting groups.  She also has an additional post-graduate diploma from King’s College London in supervising parenting groups, in which she was awarded a distinction.

In her NHS work, Naomi has supervised other clinical psychologists, as well as other healthcare professionals, such as nurses and art therapists.  She has also supervised and supported trainee clinical psychologists, and has been involved in the assessment of doctoral coursework of trainee psychologists.

Naomi works closely with many schools, social care professionals and other health professionals supporting children with complex needs.  She has regularly advised local education authorities on the special educational needs of individual children.  She has also been part of a panel of experts supporting a local authority’s special educational needs assessment service.

Naomi is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society.
